THE YEAR IN REVIEW - VANCOUVER SUN CRITICS – December 31, 2010
INDEPENDENT FILMS CHARACTERIZE THE YEAR IN FILM
"In 2010, new directors emerged and old veterans returned proving the film world is still vibrant and willing to take on the big dramatic challenge of reflecting an ever-changing reality."
"There was no one big film, but lots of smaller productions that spread the wealth. Predictions are that three movies will fight it out for best picture at the upcoming Academy Awards: The Social Network, The King's Speech and Black Swan, all three were works of ideas rather than special effects, featuring respected (not A-list) actors. That was true throughout the list of 2010's top movies, and it gave the year an independent-minded spirit."
